SYNOPSIS
The Foundation in Engineering Technology Programme (previously known as the TVET Foundation Programme) is a strategic initiative aimed at expanding access for eligible Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) graduates to undertake a preparatory programme before progressing to bachelor’s degree studies, particularly in the field of Engineering Technology.
This programme provides an early and focused pathway for students who demonstrate interest and aptitude in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). During its initial implementation, five (5) polytechnics were selected as pioneer institutions for the first intake in the 2023/2024 Session, involving a total of 500 students as the first cohort.
To further broaden the programme’s reach and impact, an additional five (5) institutions began offering the Foundation in Engineering Technology Programme starting from the 2025/2026 Session, bringing the total number of implementing institutions nationwide to ten (10).
The curriculum of the Foundation in Engineering Technology Programme is designed with a strong emphasis on hands-on and practical learning, aligned with current industry requirements. The areas of study offered within the programme are carefully structured to meet workforce demands and keep pace with emerging technological developments.
The duration of study is one (1) year, consisting of two (2) semesters, with each semester spanning six (6) months.
