TRAINING AND CONTINUOS LEARNING UNIT

Unit Latihan Dan Pendidikan Lanjutan (ULPL) is a unit responsible for identifying, planning, implementing and evaluating the recruitment and management of academic and support staff training effectively. In addition, ULPL also manages the Time Sector Privatization program (TSP) for external agencies. ULPL is divided into two section which is:
a. Staff Competency Development Section
b. Lifelong Learning Section

1. Staff Competency Development Section
The Staff Competency Development Section help to identify, plan, coordinate, and implement training required by polytechnic staff. The training is not only focused on improving skills, but also improving softskill such as courses on self-esteem, communication, integrity and leadership, are also planned every year.
This section is also responsible for managing training such as internal courses, external courses and maintaining data related to staff training. This is to ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with the plan, starting from the staff being appointed, placed, until the provision of training is carried out either in terms of internal, external, formal, informal training as well as ensuring that each identified staff follows the necessary skills improvement program.
In addition to this, the Staff Competency Development Section is also responsible for managing the application of lecturers to the Lecturer Industry Attachment Program (SIP) who wish to improve their respective skills and competencies. This program not only emphasizes theoretical knowledge but also needs to keep up with the development of technology in the industrial sector in addition to giving exposure to the work culture in various sectors in the industry.

2. Lifelong Learning Section

a. The Time Sector Privatization Section (TSP)
The Time Sector Privatization Section (TSP) is a unit responsible for managing external courses for private agencies, industry, government bodies and the public for the implementation of the Lifelong Learning (PSH) program at Ungku Omar Polytechnic.
The Time Sector Privatization Division (TSP) implemented at Ungku Omar Polytechnic (PUO) consists of:

i) The Short Course Program is a program whose duration is less than 3 months and is implemented between the polytechnic and external parties according to the structure/module set by the polytechnic in providing training to improve the skills of the workforce through the sharing of technology, expertise and information. This course is open to all participants.

ii) The Customized Program is a program implemented according to the needs and requests of private agencies, industry and government bodies. Modules for this type of program are formed in a ‘customised’ manner according to the needs and requests of an agency, company, or industry itself. The teaching staff consists of polytechnic lecturers and the participants are from among the staff of the parties that need the training. Facilities such as basic equipment, classrooms, laboratories and workshops will be provided by the polytechnic.

b. Facility Rental (Anjung Premier , Dormitory, Lecture Hall, Lecture Room, Hall, Laboratory)

c. Consulting Services for the Center of Technology (COT)
i) Shipping
ii) Air Conditioning and Refrigeration

d. Part-time Course Program (KSS)
The Part-time Course Program (KSS) is one of the section under the TSP (Time Sector Privatisation) programme. The KSS program allows graduates of the Polytechnic Certificate, Malaysian Skills Certificate and SPM/SPM(V) to obtain a Polytechnic diploma on a part-time basis. KSS are the approved programs that are carried out on Saturdays and Sundays. This program provides an opportunity for those who are currently working to continue studying to the Diploma level at the polytechnic.

There are 7 types of KSS programs offered:
1 Diploma in Civil Engineering
2 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
3 Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering
4 Diploma of Business Studies (Management)
5 Information Technology Diploma (Digital Technology)
6 Diploma in Accounting
7 Diploma in Architecture
